21.11.08 ROCCO HONOUR FOR FIRMS

Renfrewshire's best businesses were celebrating after the fifth annual ROCCO awards.

Following a record number of entries software company NS Design beat off stiff competition to win outstanding performing business with less than 25 employees.

Call centre operator BeCogent won in the more than 25 employee category for its Erskine facility.

Drinks giant Diageo was a double winner as it won in the corporate social responsibility and the best environmental performance categories.

Cleaning company Spectrum Service Solutions took excellence in customer services, accountancy practice Campbell Dallas was awarded commitment to employee development, Rolls-Royce took the manufacturing category and semiconductor developer Innovent was given the innovation and technology award. Waste paper merchant PG Paper Company was named most promising new business.

Tom Johnston, president of Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce, which organises the ROCCO awards, said: 'We congratulate all the winners on their achievements, and were delighted with the high quality and quantity of entries.

'The winners have all shown Renfrewshire is a great place to succeed in business, regardless of the challenging economic conditions.'

Gary Ennis, managing director of NS Design, said: 'We are absolutely over the moon to have won this award - it really means the world to the entire tema.'

The award event was held at the Normandy Hotel in Renfrew, hosted by Fred MacAulay and featured a demonstration from cocktail makers the Bar Wizards.
